Akaname the Filth Licker
An exploration of Japanese folklore translated through digital fabrication. The Akaname—a legendary Yokai—is materialized into a physical artifact. This sculpture captures the entity’s grotesque yet fascinating nature, stripping away mythological abstraction to present a tangible, industrial form.
FORM & FOLKLORE Traditionally depicted with elongated limbs and a defining long tongue, this interpretation restructures the Yokai’s anatomy. The proportions are engineered for physical display, preserving its eerie essence while transforming the creature into a monolithic modern sculpture.
SPATIAL INTEGRATION Designed to dictate the atmosphere of its environment. The artifact functions as a standalone sculptural piece for desktop and gallery displays, or can be securely wall-mounted to intersect with vertical spatial planes.
